This morning they woke up to rain and a temperature of 4°C (39°F) and continued north, riding through a very monotonous landscape. Crossing the borders to Finland changed everything. The temperature rose to 13-14°C (55-57°F), the sun came out and they went forwards 1 hour. With the rising temperatures the mood changed as well and everything seemed better. They began heading south and are now at a Motel called Nuttulinna in a small Finnish town where no one talks English but everyone is very friendly. Supper was a slice of cream cake and beer (not exactly the first thing you'd expect) and afterwards they were given open sandwiches which were well received. Mom got a phonecall from the satellite phone which worked very well.
Total km traveled today, 664. |
